Children from all over Hertfordshire have been invited to come and help us create Heartwood Forest and find out more about the project. Despite the wintery wet weather children have been planting trees all week and will continue until the Easter holidays.
As part of our Tree for All project we want every child in the UK to have the chance to plant trees with us and care for and understand their environment.
There are still a few places left so if you know a school who would be benefit from a day out at Heartwood then get in touch.

Lakeside School in Welwyn Garden City is a school for children with moderate to profound and complex learning difficulties.
We would love to be involved (in as practical way as possible) with the Heartwood Forest. I had hoped to talk to you about the possibility of the children helping with tree planting, but realise that we may have just missed the season for this. (It would fit in wonderfully with school work they will all be doing in the Summer Term which will be about trees, and the care of woodland).
Because of the need to plan ahead (and to book the school minibus!) I wondered if we could possibly think about working together in the afternoons on the following dates:
Monday 24 th May
Wednesday 16th June
Tuesday 22nd June.
I look forward to hearing from you.
with best wishes,
Anne Rider (Science and D/Technology)
Hi Anne
That’s great that you want to get your school involved. However, the tree planting season is now finished. It will start again in November and all schools in a 15 mile radius will be contacted and invited to come along. If you’re school falls within this you will be sent a letter inviting you to come along, look out for it towards the end of the summer.
You could also have a look at our Tree for All website for other woodland activities that you can do yourself – http://www.treeforall.org.uk.
Have fun!
Louise
