Are you interested in the night sky? Have you always wanted to look up and be able to know for certain which constellation you’re looking at? Well now’s your chance to find out more about astronomy before the telescope.
Dr. Chris Woolston will be talking about the remarkable discoveries made by naked eye astronomers prior to the invention of the telescope; from the Ancient Greeks through to Isaac Newton on Wednesday 7th July 2010 from 8.30pm.
Weather permitting we will be taking a short walk to search for the constellations and stars of the summer night sky. Please bring binoculars if you have them.
The meeting point will be the Scout Hut, Sandridgebury Lane, Herts AL3 6JB.
No need to book. There will be a suggested donation of £3.00 in aid of Heartwood Forest.
Great idea but too far away for me sadly. Are you planning anything like this anywhere near North Wales please? Enjoy and hope the weather is kind! Cheers!
Looks good.
Any idea what’s happening at the moment with all the generators, gazebos, floodlights & plastic balls? Looks like some sort of film crew have moved in.
Hi Chris
You must be referring to last Thursday, we held a fundraising sunset party in the hope that companies, charitable trusts and wealthy individuals will help us raise the remaining amount needed to complete the project. It was a fun evening and the weather couldn’t have been better and the first donation has already come in!
Hope to meet you at the astronomical event in a couple of weeks.
Louise
Hi Jo
Sorry to hear it’s a little too far for you to come! I’m not sure if there is anything planned in North Wales. The best way to find out what’s happening in Woods in your area is to go to our website and find a wood near you – http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk.
Happy hunting!
Lou
