Thank you for posting the photos of the short eared owls. I was lucky enough to see them flying and playing but at a distance, great to see some closer shots.
I was walking in the first set of woods on the left on Saturday and heard a beautiful bird song and then saw a small (about the size of a small thrush) brown bird fly off, could I have been listening to a nightingale? Has anyone else heard or seen them in this area?
Glad you got to see them Tessa, it’s a wonderful sight. It’s quite possible you did hear a nightingale, they were seen last year but I haven’t had a report this year, let’s hope it was!
