You may remember back in September the Herts Hike took place in and around Heartwood Forest, well here’s an update from the Oxfam team:
Over £5,100 has been donated so far and there is still some more money to come in. Those people who donated by 31st October were entered in a prize draw and we had three lucky winners for vouchers for outdoor shops.
All the money raised is going to an agricultural project in Bolivia in a rural area hard hit by climate change. An ancient technology using raised beds is being reintroduced which protects crops from flooding and droughts, and can provide a reliable source of food and income and secure indigenous communities’ futures.
Anyone who missed the event but would like to make a donation to Oxfam’s project in Bolivia can give online at http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/oxfamstalbans .
Anyone who would like to get involved with the Herts Hike 2011 (helping plan it or volunteering to help on the day) or would like to learn more about Oxfam’s work can contact Hilary Tyrrell on email@example.com.
