One of our most valued volunteers received a British Empire Medal last night to recognise the amazing work she has been doing, not just since the beginning of the Heartwood project, but over 10 years before that.
Pam Farley has been chair of the Woodland Trust’s St Albans Support Group for over 15 years. She has campaigned, fundraised and convinced local people we need more trees. She is a hugely inspiring individual and deserves this national recognition for services to the Community.
I was delighted to be asked along to witness Pam receiving the medal at County Hall in Hertford and quite a ceremony it was. Five other amazing individuals were also receiving their BEM and it was a delight to hear what each one had done to make their world a better place to live.
