Although summer so far has been a little confused – beautifully sunny one minute then gloomy and raining the next – Heartwood Forest is putting on a little get together for the summer festival, taking place on July 9th.
From a fun run – book in advance for £7 or pay £10 on the day – to a dog show, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. There’s even Heartwood Forest’s very own Bake Off with the usual three categories: signature, technical and showstopper. If anyone is interested in taking part, could they please email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know which categories they would like to enter, so we know how many beautiful bakes to expect! Please deliver your entries to the marquee by 11am on the day of the festival.
For the artsy among us, there is a fun workshop with artist Tony Chadwick, where visitors can create their own art using natural materials. Come and see the photography exhibition to learn the history of Heartwood Forest. Also, visit the flower-arranging workshop to learn how to arrange stunning bouquets and really get into a summery mood.
If you need to relax, join in the yoga that will take place from 11am – 1pm in the ring. Then, enjoy champagne at the Black Poplar Fizz Bar whilst perusing the Woodland Trust pop up shop, a great spot for gifts and souvenirs.
Most importantly, there are ways to get the kids connected with nature, including making their own kite to fly at Heartwood. There’s the chance to meet the animals from Ark Farm and go on a guided wildlife walk through the site. Spend time in the wildlife zone and get up close to some fantastic critters, then make a home for the ones in your garden by building your very own bug hotel.
There’s a lot going on at Heartwood’s summer festival, so make sure you come and visit on July 9th. Visit woodlandtrust.org.uk/heartwoodfestival for more information.
Look forward to seeing you there!
