Over the past 6-8 weeks it has become clear that some horse riders have regularly been going off the public and permissive bridleways in several places at Heartwood Forest. The map shows in red where there is evidence of horse riders. It is important that all horse riders and cyclists need to stay on the public and permissive bridleways at all times. The only other real option is physical barriers and it would be preferable to avoid these going up all over the site.

At this time of year the evidence is more prominent and damage to the paths has become extensive in some places. The Woodland Trust has therefore taken the decision to close the section of permissive bridleway that runs around Round Wood and along Wells and Pudlers and by the Magical Wood arch, marked in blue on the map. Physical barriers and signs have been put up in order to show this on site.
