A decision has been made to cancel the Dog Show, Hay Bale Run and Doggy Dash at the Heartwood Festival on Saturday (7th July 2018). This is due to the hot weather that we are currently experiencing.

Should you choose to bring your dog with you, shelter and water will be provided for dogs in order to help with the health and welfare of your animals.

All other activities will still be going ahead.

This year’s Heartwood Festival is on Saturday 7th July, between 11am and 4pm.

Why not come along to explore the Wildlife Zone and Wood Zone, join in with a yoga or meditation session and have a go at all the craft activities?

The dog show is always popular – could yours be the winner? How fast can your dog go down the bale run?

You can enter the Heartwood Bake-Off with your decorated cake and bring your teddy along to the Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

More details will follow soon, but in the meantime, make sure that you save the date!

peter rabbit

We would love to reunite Peter Rabbit with his family. He was left behind at the Heartwood Summer Festival last weekend. The bottle pictured with him was found nearby but may not be linked. Please let us if you know who he belongs to! Someone must be missing him.

Thank you.

At Heartwood Forest, over 2,000 people enjoyed the annual summer festival which is themed around trees, woods and art. There were more than 60 different stalls for people to engage, each offering a children’s activity from charcoal drawing to kite making – it was quite a sight see all the children running around flying their kits in the slight breeze.

Competitions included a fun dog show, the Great Heartwood Bake Off and the best dressed teddy bear at the Teddy Bears Picnic; all of these were extremely well supported. The local wildlife police joined us for the day to talk about responsible dog ownership, as well as some horses from the local stables to allow children and dogs to socialise with them.

The atmosphere was wonderful – another great day. Here’s a selection of photos from the day:

The Heartwood Forest sleepover gives us all the opportunity to experience Langley Wood in a whole new way. Building your own shelter, cooking food over an open fire, learning bushcraft skills, woodland games, spear making… the list goes on! This year it stayed dry, which was great – although last year’s heavy rain didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves!

We all really enjoyed it – can we come again next year, please?!!

Langley Wood and the Summer Festival field early on the Sunday morning – a fantastic view to wake up to! It’s a pity it is only 1 night a year, but it makes it all the more special!

Please remember that camping at Heartwood Forest is not normally permitted, and fires should never be lit for any reason. The fires at the sleepover are very carefully controlled and are in fire pits, in order to ensure that the woodland is not damaged in any way.
